The new year is bringing a new, simpler leisure offer for every resident across North Lincolnshire – making it easier than ever to get fit, get moving and feel healthier.
Local gyms and swimming pools are now simpler to use, with clearer options, better access and a more straightforward way to get active – whatever your starting point and whatever your goals.
Cllr Rob Waltham, leader, North Lincolnshire Council, said: “The new year is when many people think about getting more active, but too often it feels complicated or intimidating.
“This new offer is about cutting through that – clearer choices, easier access and great local facilities that people can simply get on and use.”
The refreshed offer follows investment in leisure centres across the area, with upgraded gyms, improved pools and better activity spaces now matched by a simpler, more modern way to use them.
New membership options – Unlimited, Core, Surge, Boost, Ignite and Collective – strip away complexity, offering a clear, flexible and modern way to get active that fits around real life.
And, they give residents access across the whole area – all gyms and all swimming pools in Brigg, Barton, Crowle, Epworth, Scunthorpe and Winterton – with no groups, no tiers and no complicated rules.
Cllr Carl Sherwood, cabinet member for safer, stronger communities, said: “You don’t need to be a gym expert to get active.
“Whether it’s getting back into fitness, swimming more often or simply moving a bit more in the new year, this new leisure offer makes it easier to start – and easier to stick with it.
“It’s about opening the door to activity for everyone.”

A new, structured Junior Gym programme is launching this January to help young people aged 11 to 16 get active, build confidence and learn how to use gym equipment safely – setting them up with healthy habits for life.
Designed especially for beginners, the programme gives young people the skills, knowledge and confidence they need to feel comfortable in a gym environment, with expert guidance every step of the way.
All new Junior Gym attendees will complete a four-week induction programme led by qualified fitness instructors. Each session focuses on a different element of fitness, helping young people progress safely and at their own pace:
The induction costs £30 for four sessions and must be completed before attending regular Junior Gym sessions.
After completing the induction, juniors can attend ongoing Junior Gym sessions for £5 per session. These sessions are supervised by qualified fitness staff, giving young people the freedom to work towards their own goals in a safe, supportive environment. The Junior Gym sessions can be found on our group fitness timetables.
Launching later in 2026, Junior Hybrid sessions will bring together functional fitness and fun, high-energy workouts. Designed to improve strength, agility and coordination, these sessions keep exercise fresh, engaging and enjoyable for young people who like variety.
Junior Gym induction sessions are available from January.
To book, contact your chosen centre on 01724 291900 or pop into site. Payment will be taken at the time of booking.
Supporting healthier, more active young people
More than half of young people are not achieving the recommended 60 minutes of daily physical activity. Programmes like Junior Gym play an important role in tackling this by offering structured, welcoming and age-appropriate ways for teenagers to get active, build confidence and enjoy moving more.
The Junior Gym programme forms part of a wider commitment to improving young people’s health and wellbeing, alongside initiatives such as free holiday swimming and expanded opportunities for young people to be active across local leisure facilities.

Grimsby Fishing Heritage Centre is pleased to announce the opening of a beautiful new exhibition at Grimsby Fishing Heritage Centre
Coastal Photography by Steve Dixey
Moments in Time showcases the extraordinary talent of local photographer Steve Dixey. Steve has spent a lot of his free time as a beach wanderer, drawn to the sands and the sea, peering in pools, digging around for fishing bait and going fishing. The sea is in his blood; his father worked on Grimsby trawlers.
This exhibition features a collection of his stunning photographs of coastal scenes, capturing the natural and man-made heritage between Cleethorpes and The Wash.
Opens Saturday 13 December until 15 March 2026
